Underwater and discover L.A.’s prehistoric past through the stories of nearly 40 fossils that are uncovering the secrets of our submerged prehistory. Many of these fossils were found by everyday Angelenos, from construction workers unearthing over 2,000 fish fossils while working on the Metro line to Museum neighbors discovering a whale skull while digging an irrigation ditch in Lincoln Heights. These locally-discovered fossils are helping scientists understand the topography of the city’s past and present.

For the first time ever, the Consulate General of France in Los Angeles, in partnership with Grand Performances, is launching a large-scale Bastille Day celebration in the heart of Downtown! The sizable French population in Los Angeles is represented by a creative wave of artisans, entrepreneurs, and restauranteurs who are making a significant impact on our culture and dining habits. The night wraps up with a DJ set from Joachim Garraud, a pioneer of the French Touch, who will turn California Plaza into a giant open-air dance floor. Free admission.
